Thoughts

The Church is the only society that exists for the benefit of those who are not its members.

Worship is the submission of all of our nature to God.
It is the quickening of conscience by His holiness, nourishment of mind by His truth, purifying of imagination by His beauty, opening of the heart to His love, and submission of will to His purpose.
And all this gathered up in adoration is the greatest of human expressions of which we are capable.

Christianity started in Israel as a fellowship; it moved to Greece
and became a philosophy; it moved to Italy and became an institution;
it moved to Europe and became a culture; it came to America and
became an enterprise

The heart is never empty. if not full of God , it will be full of the world and of worldly care. If God is all then all is well

God doesn’t call the qualified He, qualifies the called

I looked for the Church and I found it in the world, I looked for the world and I found it in the Church

An infinite abyss can only be filled by an infinite object. God Himself

Since we have forsaken Him, it is a strange fact that there is nothing able to take His place. Everything that man has given himself to crushes him. Man is still more noble than that which crushes him.

A Christianity that costs nothing, is worth nothing and does nothing!

You must be melted before you can be molded.

You cannot kindle a fire in any other heart until it is burning within your own.

Until a man is nothing, God can make nothing out of him

If your Christianity is comfortable, it is probably compromised

Most people do not want to know the will of God in order to do it. They want to know it in order to consider it.

To pay the price of obedience, is to escape the cost of disobedience.

He who lives for God's honor and glory seeks neither praise nor reward. But in the end he is certain of both.

99% of knowing God's will is being prepared to do it before you know what it is

The life rooted in God cannot be uprooted

Do not grumble because you don't have what you want, rather, be exceedingly grateful that you don't get what you deserve

To praise God for our miseries ends them. To praise God for our blessings extends them

There is a vast difference between the men that make books and the book that makes men

To look is one thing. To see what you look at is another. To understand what you see is a third. To learn from what you understand is still something else. But to act on what you learn is what really matters in history

A follower of Christ either makes the world better or he allows the world makes him worse

The Word of God keeps you from sin and sin keeps you from the Word of God

Were it not for sin, death would have never had a beginning. And were it not for death, sin would have never had an ending

Seven days without prayer makes one weak

God created the world out of nothing. And as long as we are nothing He can make something out of us

You have no control over which way the wind blows, but you can adjust your sails

In Christianity you do not need to understand in order to believe. You need to believe in order to understand

It's not what happens to us that matters but what we allow to happen inside us that really matters, our history depends on our response to the pressures of life

Controversy for the sake of controversy is sin. Controversy for the sake of truth is a divine command

It is not my love for Christ that controls me. It is Christ's love for me that controls me

There is no hurt or pain so deep, that God's love is not deeper still

If you don't like the way you were born, try being born again

The best time of the day is "now."

JUSTICE is when you get what you deserve. MERCY is when you don't get what you deserve. GRACE is when you get what you don't deserve

Do unto others as if you were the others

He who angers you, controls you

It is always more valuable to seek God's presence than it is to seek God's presents

Change the way you look at things, and the things you look at will change

Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something

A rich person is not one that has the most, but one who needs the least, the more you have inside, the less you need outside

Make sure what you're living for is worth dying for

The world does not consist of 100 per cent Christians and 100 per cent non- Christians. There are people ( a great many of them) who are slowly ceasing to be True Christians but still call themselves by the name: some of them are clergy-men. There are other people who are slowly becoming Christians though they do not yet call themselves so.

With the Word of God commitment is always required; An intellectualist never pushes the issue of will. Our Lord uses the word “believe” in a moral sense, not in an intellectual sense. Commit yourself to me. We are to believe in a Person, not in a something. This is the work of God, that you believe.

The true nature of a Pentecostal experience is to produce a unity between the message and the messenger. The truth Of Christ gospel has to be proclaimed, it also has to be commended, it has to be announced, but it also has to be adorned in the one who is proclaiming it.. The Holy Spirit will fall on those who hear the Word only when He has fallen on those who speak that Word.

Every street should lead into another. Every pahway should be a link in an endless chain. Every step that a man makes should bring him nearer the capital or nearer the ocean, nearer the heart of things or nearer the fringe of things, nearer the centre or nearer the circumference. Every man on the march should be able to congratulate himself on the things that he is leaving and on the things he is approaching. In the New Jerusalem that cometh down out of heaven from God, every road leads somewhere. Every thoroughfare is a highway to infinity.

At the same time, if we know exactly where we are going, exactly how to get there, and exactly what we’ll be seeing along the way then life ceases to be an adventure in discovering the hand of Gods leading and loose the sense of awe reserved in the child like servants of God and we don’t learn anything.

without truth there is no freedom to do what we ought.

freedom is not just from, but for!

without truth there is no freedom to do what we ought. The purpose of obedience is freedom. You obey what your responsible too.  There is real purpose behind responsibility

It does not require much to make children quarrel.

To know the will of God is the greatest knowledge but to do the will of God is the greatest achievement

Culture is religion incarnate, because (religion) (the cult) creates the culture. What created the greatness of western culture was the Christian church, but when the church is sick then the culture is going to be sick

The unique aspect of the Lord's death lies in the fact that He died on the Cross, but not because of it. He chose not merely the time to die, but He chose dying, when He need never have died at all. He died actively, not passively. He was not humbled in death as we are, but He humbled Himself. He was not offered as the lamb was offered (by someone else), but He offered Himself. He did not surrender to the tyranny of death, but He embraced it. He died with a ruptured broken heart, but surely not because of it. He was not by nature subject to the law of natural death as man now is, but rather He became obedient unto death. His death did not indicate the final triumph of flesh over spirit, but of spirit over flesh.

In short, He did not "yield up" His spirit as man is called upon to do, but rather dismissed His life voluntarily, at one and the same moment committing His spirit into the Father's hands and passing out of the confines of incarnation into an entirely new level of existence, made finally and fully complete with the resurrection and glorification of His body.

When a man becomes a child of God he is placed in a position of living in two different worlds. He cannot yet escape the world of time and space, and in his horizontal man to man relationships he must accept the consequences of the framework within which his social life is lived. But in so far as he has been translated into the Kingdom of God’s dear Son and has become a citizen of eternity, to this extent in his man to God vertical relationships he lives within a different framework. There is a sense in which his life becomes timeless, the new man ceases to grow old even though hopefully he may mature.  There is a sense in which he lives in heaven even though he does not altogether escape the bonds of the material world.

The bible sets man apart not by pointing to his achievements but by the fact that he is a fallen creature with a capacity for redemption, a redemption which involved the Incarnation. The answer to the question ‘what is man?’ cannot be found without taking into account the fact that God Himself came into this world as Man and ‘visited him’ (Ps. 8:4) in the person of His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, in order to secure his redemption. God ‘objectified’ Himself as a Man, in human form. Humanity was uniquely designed for this purpose, not merely for God’s pleasure, but for His Self-expression; and this design involved not only his spiritual capacity, but his physical form and his intellectual endowment as well.

Man cannot define true humanness by studying himself as he now is. He cannot obtain a true picture of himself without outside help. He requires some yardstick external to himself to correct his definition.  Such knowledge must come through Revelation. It cannot stem from his own reflections upon himself. We believe that in Jesus Christ we have a dual revelation, a revelation of what God is like (John 14:9) and also a revelation of the nature of true manhood. Men can only speak to us about what man is now. It is unfallen man whom we see in Jesus Christ, with powers humanly expressed, both of a spiritual and physical nature, which we no longer posses in our present state.

TRUTH, Imperishable. Wealth, we are told is power; talent is power, and knowledge is power. But there is a mightier force in the world than cither of these ; a power which wealth is not rich enough to purchase, nor genius subtle enough to refute, nor knowledge wise enough to overreach, nor authority imposing enough to silence- They all tremble in its presence. It is Truth—the really most potent element of social or individual life. Though tossed upon the billows of popular commotion, or cast into the sevenfold furnace of persecution, or trampled into the dust by the iron heel of power, Truth is the one indestructible thing in this world that loses in no conflict, suffers from no mis usage and abuse, and maintains its vitality and completeness after every assault. All kinds of conspiracies have been undertaken to destroy and drive it from the earth; all sources of power have been exhausted to crush it, and all kinds of seduction employed to vitiate and poison it; but none have succeeded, and none ever will. We can be confident of nothing else in this world, but the safety and imperishability of Truth—for it is a part of the Divine nature, and invested with the eternity and omnipotence of its author and source. It may often seem to be in danger ; it is as much net upon and assaulted now, after two thousand years of successful resistance, as ever ; but history and experience ought to reassure our faith. It has never yet failed, and it never will. It has always accomplished its end, and always will. We may rest with perfect security upon it, and feel no alarm ; we may anticipate its success, and enjoy its triumphs in advance. In this struggling life, what encouragement and comfort is there in this thought—that the man of truth, and the cause of truth, are connected with the most potent element in the world, and have all the certainly of succeeding which God's immutable nature and decree afford.

He speaks in the hearts of men, He dwells in the experience of men; He interprets Himself through the life of men

"If God is satisfied with the work, the work may be satisfied with itself."

"The Moral Law tells us the tune we have to play: our instincts are merely the keys."

Without truth there is only manipulation

without truth there is no freedom to do what we ought.

I

It does not require much to make children quarrel

it is strange that He who had the truth was rejected.

"We live, in fact, in a world starved for solitude, silence, and private: and therefore starved for meditation and true friendship."

"Human beings, all over the earth, have this curious idea that they ought to behave in a certain way, and can't really get rid of it."

"Who can endure a doctrine which would allow only dentists to say whether our teeth were aching, only cobblers to say whether our shoes hurt us, and only governments to tell us whether we were being well governed?"

Without absolutes by which to judge nature then nature becomes absolute "Without the aid of trained emotions  by the truths of God, the intellect is powerless against the animal organism."

without truth there is only manipulation

"If I find in myself a desire which no experience in this world can satisfy, the most probable explanation is that I was made for another world"

At every tick of the clock and unimaginable richness and variety of history falls off the reality of what could have been into total oblivion.

A defective character often results from mental indolence. Men do not use their faculties.

Wisdom is far seeing- it embraces the remoter issues of our choice. It takes in all the possibilities of the future.
The highest wisdom forecast the whole reach of life, both present and future.

One word of truth outweighs the world.

One person with God is always the majority
.
We can silence the whole world of fantasy with one word of Christ reality.

When one is young the concept of "human destiny" may be adequately defined in terms of personal ambition, but as ambition in terms of success in this life tends for all but a very few people to become tarnished and inadequate, there comes a time when human destiny has to be defined in terms that are much broader, indeed that are transcendental. (Beyond common thought or experience; mystical or supernatural), It is then that men begin to feel the need for a sense of purpose that reaches beyond personal ambition

‘And the Word became flesh’ In all other religions it became a philosophy or a moral ism. One and only one, the Word became flesh, the ideal became reality

Fellowship helps us know who we are, and keeps us from pretending to be what we aren’t

Everything depends on our conception of God. A mans conception of God creates his attitude toward the situation he is in , the attitude towards the situation he is in is a revelation of his conception of God.

An enormous amount of suffering among humans results from fear rather than from the painful. , While perfect love cast out fear, it may also markedly reduce the experience of pain- a fact which , if it is true, may throw some light on what appears to the onlooker as an extraordinary fortitude on the part of those who are enduring torture or martyrdom on account of their love for the Lord.

The basis of panic is always cowardice-the heart that knows and loves Jesus Christ will not yield to panic

to worry is to calculate without God

Where there is no difficulty there can be no trust

Materialists believe that what we are is determined by what we posses, being rich and or powerful makes one more valuable then anyone else. Being rich puts you above the law, communist simplify the equation by stating that the powerful (are) the law.

Humanism means man does live by bread alone.

The way we see the world can change the world.

When the enemies with guns are annihilated, the enemies without guns still remain.

To know the will of God is the greatest knowledge but to do the will of God is the greatest achievement Our major task in life is to discover what is true (the will of God) and to live in step with the truth (do the will of God that is discovered)

The purpose of obedience is freedom.
You obey what your responsible too.  There is real purpose behind responsibility

If we know exactly where we are going, exactly how to get there, and exactly what we’ll be seeing along the way then life ceases to be an adventure in discovering the hand of Gods leading and loose the sense of awe reserved in the child like servants of God and we don’t learn anything.

The world was made for the body, and the body was made for the spirit, and the spirit was made for God: the spirit that it might be brought into subjection to God, the body that it might be brought into subjection to the spirit, and the world that it might be brought unto subjection to the body.
This earth of space, would never have emerged except for the fact that the Universe itself is home for which man is the objective and justification. It is not the Universe that determines the size of men but man who governs the size of the Universe.

A boy not only grows without trying, but he cannot grow if he tries. The man who struggles in agony to grow makes the church into a workshop when God meant it to be a beautiful garden.

Jesus would match His capacity to suffer for that which He loves against the others physical force. He would not hate. He wore down by an infinite capacity to take it. A new type of power had been reveled and demonstrated- the power of the soul motivated by eternal purpose!.
